What is a Direct 'Unattended' Cremation?
Direct cremation offers a more affordable alternative to traditional funerals. While the cost of a typical traditional funeral can cost from €3,600, a Golden Leaves plan can provide direct cremation plans from €2,489.
With Golden Leaves you can get a fully guaranteed, locally provided direct cremation plan. Which includes the following:
- Fully guaranteed funeral director costs
- Fully guaranteed Crematorium costs
- 24 hours mortuary expenses in Spain
- You're covered 24 hours a day in Spain (from removal from the place of death to the funeral directors premises)
- Ashes returned to family in Spain or scattered at crematorium
- From as little as €37.42 per month*
What is not included?

Whether paid in a single payment or over 12 months instalments*, the total cost for the plan is just €2,489.00.
You can pay in instalments over 12 to 96 months. If you pay an €100 deposit, the monthly payments are €37.42 per month over 96 months, with a total of €3,692.17 to pay.
*Instalment options are not available if you have been advised by a doctor of a condition or illness that will cause death within 12 months of applying for a plan. Cover for accidental death only in the first 12 months of your plan.

About us
Since pre-paid funeral planning was introduced to the UK in 1984, Golden Leaves Ltd has been at the forefront of providers. We were founding members of The National Association for Pre-paid Funeral Plans and The Funeral Planning Authority (FPA).
As of 29th July 2022 all funeral plan providers must be regulated by the
Financial Conduct Authority to sell or administer a funeral plan. Golden
Leaves is pleased to be authorised by the FCA.
We’d like you to be assured that with Golden Leaves, your arrangements are totally secure. Every funeral director appointed to provide services for a Golden Leaves Plan must first satisfy a number of stringent requirements, including a demonstration of outstanding service records in their local community.
Golden Leaves’ Chairman, Steve Rowland, sat on the board of the NAPFP as chairman from 1995 to 2003, and was the Chairman from 2000 to 2003, he also served as committee member on the Joint Steering Group in the development of the FPA and then served as a director of the FPA.
Golden Leaves were recognised in the 2019 addition of the parliamentary review for our sole best practices in the funeral planning AND our founder, Tony Rowland, received an MBE for his services to the funeral industry.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Why should I pay now – it’ll be years before I need a funeral?
We’ll all need a funeral one day and with costs expected to rise every year, it makes sense to plan your funeral while you can and fix the cost by paying for it now.
If I decide to purchase my plan over 12 – 96 monthly instalments, what happens if I die before I have paid them all?
If death occurs in the first 12 months (the qualifying period), the plan will be cancelled and all payments refunded to the estate or to the individual who purchased the plan, but no funeral will be provided. If death in the qualifying period was accidental then a funeral will be provided, with no balance to pay. If you die after the qualifying period, the funeral will be provided with no further payments due.
Why not just take out insurance?
Customers are often tempted to choose an insurance policy rather than a funeral plan, but there are a number of reasons why a funeral plan is a more sensible option. • An insurance policy may not provide you with an emergency 24-hour helpline service. • Most important of all, an insurance policy does nothing to protect your loved ones from the immense stress of having to organise a funeral in a foreign country, with the language barrier and local regulations to contend with. • A Golden Leaves funeral plan does not require any medicals like an insurance policy generally does, although we will ask you about your health and this may limit how you can pay for your plan.
Am I guaranteed to be accepted?
So long as you are 18 or over, there are no age limits to acceptance for your plan. If you pay for your plan with a finance agreement with Funeral Safe Limited, this is subject to status and affordability check so it’s not guaranteed that they will accept your finance application. You must repay your finance before your 85th birthday so this may limit the term over which Funeral Safe Limited will allow you to make repayments.If you’ve been told by a doctor of a condition or illness which will cause death within 12 months of applying for a plan then you can still take out a plan but you will only be able to pay with a single, lump sum payment: other payment options will not be available to you.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, of course. But your rights depend on how you pay for your plan. You have a right to cancel any plan (however you pay for it) within 30 days or within 7 days of being told who your allocated funeral director is, if this is later than 30 days. If you do this, you’ll get all your money back. If you paid for your plan in a single lump sum or you finance this via Funeral Safe, you can still cancel after this time and get your money back but we’ll keep a €343 / £299 charge for administration. If you pay for your plan by instalments over 12 – 96 months’ you also have extended cancellation rights. For this payment option you can cancel any time within 12 months of taking out your plan and get all your money back. If you cancel after the first 12 months, you can still cancel and get your money back, but we’ll keep a €343 / £299 charge for administration.
